Firstly, please forgive me for the terrible pun, but honestly I just couldn't help myself. Secondly, I would like to share my joy that another UK brand has been welcomed onto Australian shores. The Boots Laboratories skincare range can be found across Europe and parts of America and can now be found in Amcal and Guardian Pharmacy.
As it is getting a bit cooler here in the Southern Hemisphere I'm reaching for more creamy, thick, hydrating moisturisers as my skin becomes drier. However, it's a bit of a balancing act between too thick and creamy and exacerbating my acne prone skin and not being hydrating enough. So you can imagine my joy when I discovered that Boots Laboratories do a Day and Night cream in the Serum 7 range that contains Pro-Retinal, which is sort of like a milder version of retinoic acid or Retinol. Plus this cream contains a complex of Vitamin C, Algae extracts, Seaweed extract and Amino acids AND most importantly is perfectly hydrating enough to keep the flakes away.
Now this product is aimed at more mature skin, but honestly I tend not to read too much into the anti-aging claims and more toward the ingredients themselves. I think it's a common misconception that people in their early twenties should shy away from such products, because, essentially, it isn't marketed toward them. However, pro-retinol is a fantastic ingredient to start using on your skin as it promotes renewal and regeneration of the skin, so is also perfect for acne prone skin types and also at diminishing scaring. Plus this is an affordable brand, so makes it a little easier on the pockets to see if pro-retinol based products are for you.
I also love to mix this with Rosehip Oil as an extra pick me up :)
