Maskd - Can you handle the sting..?

I like (love) acid... in my skincare. Whether that be AHA's or BHA's, they add so much to my routine I couldn't imagine being without them. Call me an addict, but they are fabulous ingredients that gently exfoliate the skin and leave it looking refreshed and smoothed.

So when I was contacted by the lovely Carlie, behind the newly launched product Maskd- The Green Mask (link), I was thoroughly excited. From what I gather, Carlie formulated this mask after a personal need to find something that would help  clear and smooth her skin after a bout of teenage hormonal acne- which I can certainly relate to. Maskd use the line "Can you handle the sting?" and I can see why. After initially applying the mask you are left with a slight stinging sensation, but perhaps because I use acids quite often, it didn't bother me much and quickly subsided.

This mask is predominantly natural based and I'm glad to say there aren't a mass of essential oils involved either, which can often lead to irritation. The smell of the mask is slightly medicinal, which I quite enjoy, however it's definitely worth noting. What I enjoy about Maskd is that it is the perfect strength to give you visible results, but not too strong that you risk overdoing it and it can be used twice a week. In fact it has 0.5% BHA (salicylic acid) and up to 10% AHA (glycolic, lactic, citric acid).

I've used this mask for a few weeks now and even though I do already include AHA's and BHA's in my skincare routine, I have noticed my skin is clearer overall and also smoother. This mask is perfect for those who have acne, blemish prone skin, however as it is quite gentle it is perfect for all skin types. Personally having combination skin, which is prone to being dry, I didn't find this mask to be drying in the least and actually quite hydrating.

I would definitely recommend this product to those who have problematic skin or are simply wanting to refresh and smooth their skin. It retails for $49.95 for 50ml (link) and you also receive a lovely facial cloth too.

There are also rumours that they will be adding two additional products to the line, so keep posted!
