It's Getting Cold Outside
The days are getting ever so slightly shorter and there was even a cool breeze the other morning - so it must be coming up to winter here in Australia! Easily my favourite time of year, I thoroughly enjoy being able to wear knee-length boots and wearing jeans without sweating. So, this got me thinking to what my go-to products are for winter.
Having problematic, acne-prone skin that seems to be leaning more dry these days can be a challenge. You want products that nourish and hydrate, without being too much and wreaking havoc with your skin.
With that aside, here are my picks from top to toe to get you through this winter:
Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula - Intensive Relief Concentrated Cream
I have to admit I had this for a while before I even tried it. I do love and hate some Palmers products, but this was definitely a winner from first use. It has a very rich, slightly balmy texture that sinks into the skin; doesn't leave that awful greasy hand feel and yet still continues to work well after application - aka doesn't fade away to nothingness and need replication within seconds.
Thalgo - Hydra 24 Cream
If you want something luxurious leading into winter, this is my pick. It has a lovely creamy texture which absorbs well into the skin and works fantastically under makeup. My only qualm is the fragrance in this product, and honestly I reserve this one for daytime use because of this, although I do find the scent dissipates it has more of a refreshing feel which I prefer in the day.
Pai - Geranium and Thistle Rebalancing Day Cream
This product is a God send for those with acne prone, easily irritated skin. I love the soothing feel of this product, as it moisturises and conditions just enough to leave my skin feeling comfortable and at ease. I even add a few drops of the Pai Rosehip Oil to it at night time for an extra boost.
Lanolips - 101 Ointment
The most recent addition to my lip treatment collection and quickly a favourite. It's balmy and "ointment-like" texture soothes my lips and also dry patches, particularly around my nose.
Murine Eye Mist*
My eyes are probably the first to feel the change in humidity and I find myself carrying this nifty eye mist with me around all the time. It's the eye-drops newer and improved sister and doesn't involve the awkward head-back-eye-dropper reflex stance. You spray this twice over closed eyelids and even works over make-up. Although I do recommend being cautious if you aren't wearing an eye-lid primer, but I haven't had any issues with smudging or creasing when wearing one - which is amazing in my opinion.
Nuxe - Reve De Miel
It's all over the blogosphere, but for good reason. This balm can be applied at night before bed and you can still feel it the next morning working it's magic on your lips. It's not as loose in texture as the 101 Ointment, so I find it works really well as a lip prep during make-up as well.
That's it for now, but I'm sure the list will grow!
What are your go-to winter products?
